Children Learn What They Live

The inspiration for this layout is the wonderful photo of my hubby as a young boy. I can count on one hand the number of photos we have a him as a child, so it is very special to me! I love the way the sun is peeking through the trees & shining on him in the photo. I wanted to pull from that in the layout & the Prima "Indeed" Collection featured in the beautiful September 2009 Swirlydoo's "Bejeweled" kit were perfect!
I wanted to showcase the beautiful papers, so I used purple & greens to accent. I mounted a printed paper circle to solid card stock to use as a home for the photo. All papers were inked on the edges using a combo of Distress Peeled Paint & Adirondack Purple Twilight. The flowers have 2 die cut layers made from the card stock. The main portion are kit included Prima Trellis Roses- purple mist.

The lettering was colored using Ranger Purple Twilight Alcohol ink applied with a Q-tip. The alpha is 7Gypsies. The decorative photo corners are made from Cuttlebug dies & were cut with my Sizzix Big Shot. I placed contrasting colors in different corners. The small green butterflies were punched from a Martha Stewart punch from the Prima packaging!! Waste not, Want not!!!

Lastly I cut some green leafy decorative edging with my Sizzix & distressed it with the Adinrondack Purple Twilight ink. I then attached a purple punched branch for some extra detail. A touch of lavender & lime green Stickles was added to the greenery to highlight.
This layout was so fun to do! I love the photo & wanted to create a calm gardeny feel! I love scrapping with older pics!! Thanks so much my friends for taking a peek! I appreciate it very much!!!

Fashion Fades...Style is Eternal

The inspiration for this layout was an awesome photo -dated 1918 -of my Grandma ( far right ) with other family members paired with the "Oh Soooo Yummy" Graphic 45 Fashionista papers. Toss in a quote by Yves Saint Laurent & the result is a layout that was fun, fun, fun to do!!!
The G45 papers were featured in the July 2009 Limited Edition Kit at My Creative Scrapbook .
I cut the border trim from the Haute Couture paper with my Cutter Bee scissors & mounted in on a circle disc. I then inked the edges with Distress Aged Mahogany & Black Soot ink. I adhered it to black card stock for my border to the great printed papers from Graphic 45.

Cosmo Cricket Blackboard flowers were used to help bring some dimension to the layout. I then added small Retro punched flowers with bling centers to the Blackboard. I love the Blackboard products. I think they were a great find & I have used over & over again. I cut G45 "buttons" from Buttons Ala Mode paper & adhered to paper disc & placed in corner.

The Fashion Fades letters are Heidi Swapp "She" letters & were originally pink. I painted them with Ranger Pitch Black alcohol ink. The punch edged photo mats are made from the papers used in layout & the Martha Stewart Lattice Arch punch. ( Ohhh I love her punches! )

I cut a large paper embellie & mounted it on black card stock. I then separated some Prima "Say it with Crystals" black flourishes & scattered them about the layout! I really wanted to carry the "dotted" theme in the papers throughout the layout!
I had so much fun with this! I love Graphic 45 papers.. they really inspire!!!
Thanks so much for taking a peek my friends!!!

SIMPLER TIMES

Hi friends! The inspiration for this layout is a fantastic picture of my son that was taken in 1990. He was 9 years old at the time. I am very close to my son & we chat almost every day. He works extremely hard & puts in tons of hours weekly. I ran across this picture when I was on the phone with him as he was driving home from a 7 AM to 10 PM work day. I could think of nothing else but the photo reflected Simpler Times ! He loves his work & we love him for being such a hard worker!
I used the great July 2009 Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook that featured the wonderful Traveler line from My Little Yellow Bicycle. Perfect for what I was trying to convey! I also wanted to drift away from flowers... I need to NOT do flowers all the time!!
I used 3 different 2 sided papers from the traveler line. They all work great together so this was SIMPLE.. almost no thinking! I decided to use circle layers. I was then able to carry the circles throughout the layout.
The chip bicycle I had from a set of Basic Grey Recess chip shapes... it was just one of those odd embellies I thought I would never use UNTIL i seen the bicycles on the Little Yellow Bicycle papers. I inked the chip bike & Basic Grey "Sweets" alpha with Adirondack Denim ink. It actually looks a little more navy in person,, but seemed to photograph a little on the royal blues side. All navy papers was also inked with the Denim ink.

Kit included Buttons Galore buttons was added to fill in some thin areas & also to continue the circle theme. I doubled matted the pic with coordinating card stock. All green papers was inked with Distress Peeled Paint. All Orange was inked with Adirondack Terra Cotta ink.

I covered various sized chip circles using the "Cover old chip" method & adhered randomly. I added buttons & stickled the edges with 3 shades of Stickles-Lime Green, Dark Blue, & Cinnamon. Wahhlah.... done!
This was such a fun layout to do. I enjoyed my flower -free experience!
Thanks so much my friends for taking a peek! You are the best!

DogGone Cute

Who can resist a cute pooch??? Not me! The inspiration for this layout is our adorable doggy MoJo. MoJo is no longer with us... but will forever be an important part of our family! She was just one of those cutey pie dogs! I loved these black & white pics & they worked so well with leftovers from the April 2009 My Creative Scrapbook kit. The kit featured the Bo Bunny Alissa papers! Love the colors! This was also done for the My Creative Scrapbook August Sketch Challenge by the great sketch artist Liz Qualman . The challenge was an awesome sketch to include stitching on your layout... that means faux stitching for me!!
I doubled matted the pics with card stock & added a paper flourish on the pic. The flourish was cut with a Cuttlebug die using my Big Shot Machine. I then highlighted with Cotton Candy Stickles for the pink card stock & Turquoise Stickles for the black card stock.

Basic Grey mini monos colored black with Ranger alcohol ink was used for the "cute" lettering. I really like the staggered letter look! It helps for those of us who do not do things straight!!!

I used a Signo pen & freehand dashes & dots for my faux stitching. I find it easier to just freehand...not perfect, but then again I'm not either!! The skinny scalloped pink strip is a Sizzix Decorative Strip die that I found & love! It is called Frills #2.

Liz's sketch called for multiple photos off to the side! I added an extra one because I could not choose! I also doubled matted these & highlighted with Stickles.

The flowers were made with the kit included papers, card stock using various dies & punches... & one layer of silk. I then distressed all layers & attached with a brad.
All distressing was done using Distress Black Soot, Distress Worn Lipstick & Adirondack Pool Blue.
This was a fun layout! It brought back great memories of our MoJo. Thanks Liz for a great sketch & thanks to all my friends for taking a peek! ♥

PRETEND

Hi Friends! I am so happy to be scrapping again! We are getting settled after a quick sale & love new home! I hope to do a layout soon to share with everyone! I have missed my wonderful friends.. thanks for hanging with me!
The inspiration for this layout is my adorable niece Anna. Anna loves to pretend. She is quiet when she pretends & usually whispers. I wanted to convey a dreamy sort of quiet feeling in the layout & the Basic Grey Wisteria papers were just the ticket! They were featured in the June 09 Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

The flower base is the Basic Grey Wisteria chipboard stickers. I added a couple layers of punched flowers, using various punches & dies to give them some dimension. I used the papers used in layout & lightly distressed them with Distress Ink-Faded Jeans, Milled Lavender, & Scattered Straw. Green jeweled bling was adhered for center.

I punched those pretty papers with a Martha Stewart border punch & distressed it with the Faded Jeans ink. The leafy vine is from the Wisteria Chip pack highlighted with Stickles eucalyptus.

The title work was originally white letters from the Basic Grey Euphoria line. I painted them with a combination of 2 Ranger Alcohol inks-Wild Plum & Stonewashed. I then added some of the Blending Solution to lighten the color. A quick top coat of Lavender Stickles completed the process.

I highlighted the chip flowers with Stickles-lavender, Eucalyptus, & Waterfall. Say it with Crystal flourishes were cut & scattered on the center circle.
I was happy with the results!! It felt so great to create again!
Thanks my friends for taking a peek!! You are the best!
