Cake Slice "Party Favor" Wheel

I made this using "left-overs" from the My Creative Scrapbook November Main Kit that featured the Teresa Collins Friendship Collection.

These card stock favor boxes held together with a ribbon, are the perfect addition for any get-together & can be made to suit any holiday or occasion. I saw this on BHG's online website & thought it looked fun! I have changed a couple things as I found the original instructions to be a little vague.

Supplies:
Patterned paper (scraps), adhesive or 2 sided tape, ribbon, straight or hat pin, bone folder or scorer, 13 sheets of 8.5 x 11 card stock in colors of your choice, topper decor.

The pattern can be found at:
Cake Wheel Pattern
*Open the pattern & save it to a word file. I enlarged it approx 200%

*Print pattern on 13 sheets of card stock ( 12 sheets for boxes & 1 as a template)

*Cut 12 boxes along SOLID lines. Also cut slit on end flap
*Score, using a bone folder or scoring tool all dotted lines of the pattern... scoring makes the folding a breeze!
*Fold box along the scored lines & secure with some adhesive on side & bottom. ( I used 2 sided tape).
*Fill with some yummies & tuck end flap into slit.

*Using remaining card stock pattern, cut out section that represents the cake top. This will be used as a template for the printed paper ( see below)
*Cut 12 of these from the printed paper. I cut mine approx 1/4 inch smaller on all sides so the card stock could be seen as a border. I also inked the edges of the cake wheel a bit.
*Adhere to top of cake wheel.

*Place ribbon around slices to hold boxes together. Then using a hat pin pull ribbon snug & pin together. This makes for a "quick" take apart!!

Top-off cake with topper decor to match your theme/or embellies! I just set mine on top!

There ya go!! I am looking forward to seeing how you decorate your cake slide party favor wheel! Have Fun & thanks for visiting!!

My Creative Scrapbook Guest Designer " OLD FRIENDS"

Wow what beautiful papers!! The November Kit from My Creative Scrapbook features the yummy "Friendship Collection" from Teresa Collins. I have had this photo of my Grandma (right hand side) & her friends & was just waiting for some papers... I seen these & thought "YES!!". I altered the pic to give it a blue tint. I think that helped hide the some of the graininess from enlarging the photo.
I cut a ring using to hold the photo as a frame. I always gravitate toward circles in my layouts!! I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the black card stock under the pic & added a rub on to the photo. The little pink lettering was cut from one of the quote boards in the kit.

My title work was done on the PC in a Word document. I just spaced the font far enough to be punched with a circle punch, printed on 12x12 paper that I cut down to 8.5 x11, then adhered each letter to a larger black card stock circle. I inked the edges with Distress Broken China ink & added some pink Liquid Pearl drops. The letter "toppers" are from KI memories & are a glitter border sticker that I cut & placed on top. I then used some foam squares to mount the letter to the layout & to give it some depth. The PC is a great place to make title work!

The circle is trimmed with a die cut made with a Sizzix die on my Big shot.I The chipboard flowers are also part of the Teresa Collins collection. I added some Liquid Pearl pink droplets scattered about the background to bring some color to the layout.
I had sooooo much fun with this layout!! I just love old photos , don't you???
Thanks so much friends for taking a peek!!!

My Creative Scrapbook Guest Designer "SO PRETTY"

When I opened the My Creative Scrapbook November Kit & seen the Teresa Collins Friendship Collection.. I knew I wanted to use this photo! It is a picture of my daughter-in-laws bridesmaids & I think it worked wonderful with the friendship theme of the kit . All day long everyone was commenting that they looked "so pretty"... thus the title!!
I wanted to make the layout pop so I used lots of bling & my old standby..black card stock!
I used the Fiskars Sunburst border punch to punch the edges of the background paper. I inked the edges with Distress Worn Lipstick ink & adhered to black card stock. The black letters are Pink Paislee... but seemed a little lost, so I mounted them on pink card stock, then cut & "Stickled" with Fruit Punch Stickles. The "ring " is also Teresa Collins & was included in the kit.

The Friendship quote was cut from the printed paper & doubled matted. I added some gems to the corners for detail.

I did quite a bit of cut work in this. I use Cutterbee scissors.. I highly recommend them!! This was cut from the printed paper & was originally black & white. I inked it a bit with the Worn Lipstick ink & then added the Stickles to highlight!
This was actually a very fast layout & came together so easy! The kit is awesome & I was so honored to be considered... much less chosen!!
Thanks friends for taking a peek!!!

My Creative Scrapbook Guest Designer "FARAWAY FRIENDS"

Hello Friends! I was lucky enough to be asked to Guest Design for My Creative Scrapbook using their November Main Kit that features the Teresa Collins "Friendship" line. This was quite an honor & I must admit I was a bit humbled!!
The inspiration for the layout was a photo of my mother as a little girl with her friend! I wanted to play on the friendship theme... so all of the layouts are about friends! My mom was born in 1922, so I figured she was around 5 or 6 in this photo! I am amazed how the older photos are so much better than the ones from the 70's & 80's The photo paper quality is amazing!

The Friendship line is blue, white & black, however I wanted to play with the masks that can with the kit , so I tossed in some red card stock. I used the Tim Holtz mini mask & some Black Soot Distress ink for the masking. I then used this masked card stock to accent the wonderful papers. I also placed some of this behind the Teresa Collins clock transparencies. The flower was made from the same papers & had a Petaloo silk base for some dimension.

I used a Fiskars Threading Water punch for the punched border. The papers come with such wonderful quotes & I wanted to use these! So I cut one out, inked it a bit with Distress Fired Brick ink & it filled an area that was sort of empty!! I also added the same punched border for continuity.

The photo frame is made from 2 main items, The paper part is cut from one of the quote boards. I added a cut KI memories glitter sticker in a pattern around the frame. A Bo Bunny rub-on was applied to the pic for some much needed detail!
Thanks so much friends! I will be posting more from the kits... so do not get tired of me!!!

You guys are the best!

I Am Here To Live Out loud

Hi Friends! The inspiration for this layout is a photo of my Mom taken in June 2009. As many of you may remember my Mom was very sick in the spring... and a few months later she looked fantastic!! She is 87 ( soon to be 88) & is an amazing example of "living out loud". I used the June kit from My Creative Scrapbook that featured the Lily Bee "French Couture" papers. I thought the colors worked wonderfully with the pic!
This was also my first attempt at sewing on a layout! I know many of you do this on a regular basis.... but I had some HUGE fears to overcome! You have to look close... I have stitched around the layout on the printed paper! /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ :D

I cut a couple scalloped edged papers to place under the photo. I then inked the edges with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. It has to be on of my fav's in the Distress Inks line. I matted the photo to match the ribbon & distressed it with Walnut Stain ink. The title is kit included Pink Paislee "Captivating" chipboard alphabet. It had quite a bit of letters. That is a fairly long title & I still have leftovers for another layout! The bling flourishes are from a double pack Zva Creative self adhesive crystals. I placed them in a mirror image to use as a base to the photo!

The flowers were really easy. I cut then using various dies & papers from the kit plus card stock used in layout. The leaf & fern punches are both from Martha Stewart. I folded the leaf down the center & ran the fold over the ink to give it the leaf vein. All flower layers were inked with both Walnut Stain & Spiced Marmalade! The flower centers are brads from Creative Imaginations & came with the kit. I added some bling around the border, a few scattered small Retro punch flowers & wahhhhlaaah .... done! It was such a joy to do this layout of my Mom!!
I want to thank everyone for visiting! It is so nice to share with my scrappy friends!
