WISHES

Hello Friends! I am so happy that you stopped by! The inspiration for my layout was this cutey photo of my son in 1989 on his 8th birthday! Nick always would tell me he was going to make "WISHES" when he blew out his candles! Not just a WISH... but WISHES! So when I ran across this photo his closed eyes & little puffed up cheeks brought a smile to my face as I know he was making "WISHES"!

I used the yummy Creative Imaginations LooLah papers. I thought they were perfect for the picture! They also had a sticker that was great for those little details! I made the scalloped dies cut & will be posting a "how to" in a day or so.

All edges were inked with 3 colors of Distress Ink- Faded Denim, Peeled Paint & Worn Lipstick. The little flowers are  K &Co... I wrapped wire around a little lollipop stem & attached the wire on back of flowers to make them a little "springy". They are much more dimensional than they are showing up in the photo.
The lettering is round sticker letter on punched circle card stock with a little retro flower attached to the back. I raised them with round chip to give the bottom of the layout some interest. The little lady bugs are Jolee's Boutique.
I really enjoyed this layout! I think I was smiling the whole time! Nick just turned 31, but it seems like just yesterday I was taking this photo of him in his Care Bear jammies making Wishes!!
Thanks so much for stopping by! You guys are the best :)

TIME SPINS AWAY

Hello Friends! Well I finally finished this layout! I started it in summer of 2011& became so stuck that I had to set it aside ...for what seemed like forever. But better late than never as they say.
The inspiration for the layout was a photo of my husband taken in late 50's. We have less than 10 photos of my husband from childhood through his teens- so the ones we have are very precious to me! It may be a bit grainy... but I still love it!  I seen the spinning top & my mind started thinking...Time Spins Away! And that is so true!
I wanted to use yummy retro look papers. This is a combo of Pink Paislee & Girls Paperie Vintage Travel papers.

I inked & matted the photo yo make the pic pop off the papers by using a black matt. I really wanted to convey somewhat of a spinning feel.. so I did the letters in the round. They are Tim Holtz grungeboard letters inked with black alcohol ink. After I placed the lettering , I stitched the inner circle, then adhered the lettering.  The corner deco is chip from the Starry Night collection by Rusty Pickle. ( I miss Rusty Pickle.. I always loved their items) It was inked & stickled with  Black Diamond Stickles.

The clock is made by Jolee's Boutique & was mounted on Grungeboard wings to convey time flying. They were inked with black alcohol ink & stickled with the Black Diamond. I then added it to a Bo Bunny Flower Child chip flower, & inked it with Distress Aged Mahogany & Black Soot.

Again, I used Bo Bunny Flower Child chip board to add some interest to the other side! I scattered some stars about the whole layout to give some detail to those empty areas.

I really had a good time with this layout. When I started many months ago I was completely uninspired... then poof ... I knew what I wanted to do & it felt great!
Thanks so much for visiting & taking a peek at my blog! I appreciate it so very much :)

EASY HOMEMADE NETTING!

HI Friends! I wanted to share with you how easy it is to make the netting used in my layout!
First grab a bag of produce! I chose this because I liked the larger netting! Look around at the fruits & veggies & you will be surprised at the different kinds!
Cut open & lay out the net. I used Making Memories Metallic Copper paint, as I wanted to pick up the metallic in the papers. ANY craft paint will work! I found the metallic really held to the net fantastically! I swipe a layer on the work space to test the color.
Roll the netting into a ball & squeeze some paint on. Do this several times to make sure you have the net full of color!
Unwind the netting & check to make sure all areas are covered & excess globs removed!
Allow to dry! I always clip mine to the little dangles hanging from the ceiling fan & place my fan on low! Dries real quickly!
Cut and stretch to your desire!
I adhered it with a couple swipes of double sided tape!
There ya go! I can think of many uses for the netting! I hope you try this & let me see what you have done with the netting!
Thanks Friends! You guys are the best! :)

I LOVE REMEMBERING...

Hi Friends!
YEAH I scrapped! It sure felt good! Not too sure if I am happy with the results...but had fun doing it so... such is life!

The inspiration for my layout is a pic of my Dad taken in the early 80's. He loved the ocean even though he lived in the landlocked Midwest! He fell in love with it during World War 2 while serving in the navy. I think it gave him some calm & peace during such turbulent times. We lost my Dad in  1989. I miss him all the time & love remembering....

I used the Little Yellow Bicycle Vita Bella papers. They are several years old, but  I love that collection! All edges were inked with Distress Ink : Aged Mahogany, Shabby Shutters & Broken China. The foil framing is cut strips ,also from the Vita Bella collection.
The little tags are Reminisce "By the Sea" die cut stickers.

I had a lot of fun making the net & waves. The waves are felt strips from Queen & Company & were originally white. I inked them with a  metallic rub that i purchased on Joann.com (It is made by a company called Craft-T). I used the copper rub & highlighted it with Broken China Distress ink.

The Netting was a produce bag & I will be posting a tutorial on how I made it... super easy. I should have that up later today or tomorrow!

The pretty natural looking flowers are Prima Parlor Petals Verne. I thought they looked great with the pretty shades of blues & greens in the papers!  the lettering is My Minds Eye So Sophie card stock letters. I inked them real good in order to have them blend a bit more!

The die cut greenery what made by using a Quickutz Branch & Berries die, cut with my good old hand cranked Big Shot. I thought they looked a little "sea weedy".  The shells & branches were dotted with gold Liquid Pearls.
I am making a real attempt to use up existing supplies!  I seem to have hoarded quite a bit...Now to use it!!
Thanks so much for stopping by & sharing my layout with me!  :)
